Spriggs & Hollingsworth prides itself on the knowledgeable, cost-effective, and creative use of technology to enhance the quality of our representation. For litigation support, where appropriate, we work with vendors to image and code document collections. We also utilize a cutting-edge technology that facilitates managing, retrieving and synthesizing the information that is captured using conventional litigation-support packages. We furthermore use a state-of-the-art deposition handling program that permits us to view transcripts on screen, to code sections of transcripts by issue, and to manage videotape depositions. We have our own miniscripting program, which obviates the need to pay for a miniscript version from the court-reporting service. We also utilize custom-designed databases to manage and process information in our cases, including databases that we have linked with images.
The firm maintains information on-line for research. We have available at our desktops specialized reporters, legal-research services, the Internet, and internal work product.
Internally, we use e-mail to communicate and can assign and manage tasks electronically. We encourage the use of e-mail communication with our clients for non-confidential materials, and we have the ability to arrange secure transmission as appropriate for confidential information.
Several of our lawyers use many software applications to enhance their productivity, such as spreadsheet programs, dynamic outlining programs, presentation programs, graphics packages, and decision-analysis software. Our Information Systems department supports and trains users on these (and other) applications.
Our Chief Information Officer has two decades of experience, including previous service as CIO of three major Philadelphia law firms. Our IS staff is certified in a number of disciplines, and our litigation support specialists have experience working for vendors and other firms in a number of capacities.
As a firm, we are committed to searching out and implementing the best technology that will help us serve our clients by producing the highest-quality representation in the most cost-effective manner. Our lawyers regularly speak at legal-technology seminars on applying technology to litigating major cases.
